Frequently asked questions

Is OTP really unbreakable?

When the rules are followed (true randomness, never-reused key, and secrecy), OTP provides information-theoretic confidentiality meaning it is mathematically provable to be impossible for an attacker to decrypt.

Can Necron decrypt my files?

No, Necron can't decrypt your files. Necron does not maintain any copies of customer's key files. All key files are wiped from our systems during production to ensure full confidentiality.

Can I store the encrypted files in Google Drive, Dropbox, or iCloud?

Yes. The ciphertext is safe to store anywhere thanks to the information-theoretic security of One-Time Pad encryption.

Which platforms are supported?

Windows 10/11, macOS (Intel/Apple Silicon), and major Linux distributions.

Does Necron protect against tampering or malware on my computer?

No. If you have malware on your computer, your files will already be compromised and no amount of retroactive encryption would be able to undo the damage.
